Practice
The Bloom Practice
Presence and humility first — so work can serve real needs, and life is not abandoned for the work.
Why not only a product
From art and philosophy to platforms people actually need.
The natural development of a serious creative life is not more objects for the wall. It is to facilitate what society actually needs — with dignity, clarity, and craft.
Where I once painted and wrote, I now build businesses and platforms. The medium changed; the practice did not: life as work, oriented toward meaning that serves others.
To put what I can do — craft, writing, product-building — into simple, respectful tools for real human situations, rather than into self-display.
At root this is humility: to be present enough to contribute more meaningfully to life as a whole — and when you have children, to be present with them as your first duty. Platforms and books grow from that orientation; they do not replace it.
Returning
Things I keep returning to
Build for real needs
Platforms and projects that make a difficult human process simpler — free where it matters, respectful by design. BloeiWens.nl is the clearest example today.
Creative work matures when it stops circling the self and starts building something others can use. I try to design products that make hard situations a little more human.
Write from life
Philosophy and writing drawn from ordinary days — not theory detached from the body, from family, or from society.
Years of art, psychology, economics, and study are not a brand story. They are training for clearer work — and for staying present when life is ordinary and demanding.
Make with craft
Design, code, writing, and systems thinking as one toolbox — whatever the work actually requires.
From early creative work to graphic design, self-taught engineering, and product building: craft is how an idea becomes something people can touch.
Work
What this looks like in practice
A free Dutch match platform for intended parents and known donors / co-parents — clearer and more respectful than cold clinics or opaque marketplaces. Not a clinic.
A book on presence and contribution — begun in the forest, tested in family life. At its core: be present enough to give more to life as a whole, and when you have children, to be present with them as your first duty.
